Chavela Vargas canta a Lorca ha sido seleccionado para entrar en el Programa Ibermedia, una iniciativa que estimula la co-producción entre España, Portugal y América Latina. El relato audiovisual que narra el director mejicano Ruben Rojo Aura, nos invitó a presenciar uno de los momentos más emocionantes de la carrera de Chavela Vargas: el último concierto que dio en España en el año 2012, el último concierto que dio en su vida. Ahora el documental está en el recta final y el resultado es único.

Chavela Vargas sings to Lorca was selected to enter in the Ibermedia Program, an initiative that encourages co-production between Spain, Portugal and Latin America.  Mexican director Ruben Rojo Aura accompanied Chavela Vargas every day for the last year of her life. A thrilling portrait that culminates with last tribute-concert she performed in Spain in the summer of 2012. Now the film is in the post-production final stages and the result is truly special.      Chavela Vargas and Federico García Lorca come together in a story of brotherly love; poetry and music the places of their meetings. A ninety-year-old hispanic icon, fulfills her greatest wish: to pay homage to the allegorical poet from Granada (Spain) and finally join her friend in the heavens. THE NIGHTINGALE AND THE NIGHT is the only documentary that records the rehearsals, recording and last concert-tribute that the Mexican artist made to Lorca, in the Student’s Residence in Madrid, July 2012, at 93 years of age. The offering she proposed was to interpret the poetry and drama of the poet with the rhythms that served to shape her songs. An artistic action of incalculable value that we have the honor to reveal to the world.
